Why Should I Choose You?

What makes you different than other therapists?

I am high energy, intuitive and am always learning. I constantly look for the newest and best therapies available for our clients, from homework to a new way of thinking about a problem. I was trained in multiple disciplines, from social work to crisis intervention, long term therapy to brief problem-specific therapy. Because of this, I have a ton of resources both in the community and online to supplement and enhance therapy.

What modality do you use? (In other words, how do you therapy?)

I am eclectic, I use what will work with our clients. That being said, I use a base of Cognitive-Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in which one will learn why they do what they do and how to change our reactions. I also utilize Narrative, which tells us that everyone has a story and when we change our story, we change our path. For children, I will also use play therapy, in order to help them communicate more effectively.

Fees and Insurance

What are your fees?

My basic fees are $130 for individual, couple or family therapy, for a 50 minute session. There is possibility of sliding scale, depending on availability and need.

Are you an in-network provider for any insurance?

I have limited space for insurance, and am working to become private pay based only, but I will work with insurances to help you receive the care you deserve.

I’ve Decided You Are a Good Fit, How Does This Work?  How Do I Make An Appointment?

How do I contact you?

I have an answering service that will be happy to set up an appointment for you. If you would like to contact me directly, please email me at Julia@MillerFamilyTherapy.com

Is there anything I need to do before my appointment?

You can fill out your packet for intake (located below) ahead of time. The packets can also be downloaded and filled out and emailed to me, then I can have you sign the pages when you come in. Also, if you are using insurance or EAP, please contact Nor Cal Medical Billing at (530) 622-1017 for authorization.

Are appointments in person or virtual?

Unless we have discussed it otherwise, all appointments are virtual. On the date and time of your appointment, go to www.Doxy.me/JuliaMiller. It is the HIPAA compliant virtual office with video. You do not have to register, it does not record any data, and you can use your nickname instead of your real name when in my “waiting room”, all to preserve your privacy. Multiple people can join in sessions from different locations, providing an expanded service to families and couples that are not able to meet in person at the same time.

I need in person appointments, for a medical or mental health reason. How can I book an in person appointment?

First, let me know via email that is what you need. I have limited slots available, and currently only do in person on Wednesdays, but that may expand/change as needs arise.
